The UrbanFUTURE Team Leader position is a two-year commitment to serving urban elementary and middle school students and families of St. Louis. We seek to restore the invaluable bonds between family, school, and community that poverty has fractured. Our One-On-One INSPIRE™ mentoring program helps our students set goals, improve literacy, and think about the future. It helps bring parents back into the school through weekly mentor to parent communication. Our IMPACT™ tutoring program brings tutors into the school during the school day and after-school to work with students on literacy and homework. Our Explore!™ program helps students see the effects of their hard work by exposing them to career opportunities through in-school programs and out-of-school field trips. We work tirelessly to help our students develop the skills and habits for success, and to see and believe in their possibilities. The Team Leader is essential to our mission. Team Leaders will manage 40-75 teams consisting of a student, home contact, school teacher, volunteer INSPIRE mentor, and volunteer IMPACT tutor. The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that our teams are hitting their aggressive literacy, grade improvement, and character goals.
Successful applicants have experience working with urban youth, demonstrated group leadership, success in achieving challenging goals, a distinguished academic record, willingness to challenge the status quo, and a record of taking initiative. Additionally, some experience with teaching or tutoring—especially as it relates to literacy programs—is helpful. The Team Leader position is a year-round, salaried position. First year Team Leaders earn an annual salary of $30,000 and receive medical, dental, and life insurance benefits. Second year Team Leaders may receive a generous increase based on performance and achieved metrics. Click here for more info
